Looking for ways to make your house smell great? This homemade Stovetop Potpourri smells amazing. It also makes a great handmade gift idea!
I absolutely love Fall: pumpkins, cooler weather, football, and festivals. And because my house always smells amazing in the fall. All those yummy spices!
One of my favorite things to make is spiced cider because it makes the house smell oh-so-good. But we never end up drinking it all and it goes to waste. So last fall I started whipping up some stovetop potpourri. It makes your house smell great and you don’t have to drink a ton of cider afterwards!
This recipe is one of my favorites. You don’t have to use a mason jar. You can put the mixture in any container you have. However, I love to put it in mason jars and gift it to the teachers. It’s such a simple little gift and a great way to bring a smile to teacher’s face. Here’s the tutorial:
Supplies:
- 5 large Mason Jars
- 1 Large Orange
- 10 cinnamon sticks
- 10 cloves
- 1 large apple
- 2-3 lemons
- 2-3 limes
Directions:
- Slice all of your fruit,
- Place 2 cinnamon sticks and cloves in each jar.
- Add in slices of fruit in each jar.
- Fill with water and place lid on Jar.
- You can store these in the fridge for up to 10 days.
- When you are ready to use pour jar into a small sauce pan and place on low heat.
- Refill the water when it runs out.
I reuse one jar a few times. You can also place a floating candle on top of one of the jars. They make a very nice center piece. Also, remember that it can be a great teacher or hostess gift as well.
