Magic Light Trick- Follow up Post and Video- Adding Light to ANY Sconce

Can’t stop. Won’t stop with the Magic Light Tricks! I just absolutely love that you can make any space in your home look custom and add some charm without calling a professional. Simply by adding a sconce and easily making it actually have light! You can highlight a boring corner or bring some light or focus to any area that needs some attention. You can read the ORIGINAL Magic Light Trick Blog Post HERE for more details and examples of using a sconce in your home. Today I am sharing a follow-up video to answer a couple of the most asked questions I get! “How do I attach the Sconce to the wall?” and “I can’t figure out how to attach the light with wire to the sconce!” Watch the video at the end of this post to see how to hang your sconce on your wall. Let’s look at the most recent spot we added a sconce….

To our narrow hallway! Our thermostat is behind THIS hanging floral art. I finished off this space with THIS short gold sconce (not the best reviews online, but I am happy with it for the awesome price). You can watch the video at the end of this blog post to see exactly how we use THIS exact Magic Light to bring some light to this space (these are a warmer light and they come with batteries and a remote). I don’t use a remote on these sconces that are low enough to easily click on. The benefit of the remote is that you can set them on a timer and also dim them so you don’t run thru the battery as quickly. (They have 100 hour run time and last 4 times longer than lights that are similar).

We used THIS color of Rub n Buff to cover the heads of the screws and also to camouflage the Industrial Strength Velcro.

Exact “Hockey Puck Lights” we used HERE. The trick to using velcro is using THIS Industrial Strength Velcro comes in a tape you can cut to any length. If you attach it to the inside it could still fall out, so re-inforce with hot glue (Image below). I have attached to the side of the sconce and it stayed in.

I recently shared THIS Ikea Hack with a Magic Light Trick above it! I used THIS Sconce that was under $50 but I did have to spray paint with my favorite gold spray paint. If you are against spray painting a new sconce you could do THIS sconce that looks almost identical!

With that sconce I was able to use wire, and that is the most secure way, but not all sconces work with wire. See that post HERE.
