I have a treat for you today! I asked my friend Annie from Most Lovely Things if I could stop by and just stare at her home and also take pictures to share a home tour with you! Really I wish she would just turn the house over to me. It is my FAVORITE home. Modern meets Vintage style or could also fall under Eclectic. The kitchen just pulls at my heart in so many ways. I feel warm, loved, hugged, inspired and all the other adjectives when I am in it. I met Annie from another mutual friend in Connecticut. We all met for lunch and Annie and I hit it off. We are not the same age, and that is proof that age does not matter. What matters is what you connect over and being genuinely interested in each other. Annie is always so loving to my kids and that is my ticket to friendship! Ok, let’s go inside! First stop the prettiest front porch in all the land…
Am I right? Nice thing about having a covered front porch it can look this lovely in the dead of winter. Annie hung the single version of our same double hanging chair and spray painted it black! (Find the exact chair HERE). Last week you all went crazy over the planters on her front porch (find info on them HERE). And find similar lights HERE.
I know you will want to know-
PAINT COLORS-
WHITE PAINT– Dove White from Benjamin Moore Dove White // BLACK PAINT– Benjamin Moore Graphite
When asked about personal style– “I would describe my style as eclectic—I know that’s an overused word, but I love a mix of styles and and old vs new…modern vs traditional.”
Isn’t this kitchen a dream? She painted her wood floors with white paint. She actually doesn’t recommend this, she said that is is very hard to keep clean and is high-maintance. I personally love the look. The island is from Williams Sonoma, unfortunately it is no longer available.
While I wouldn’t consider her home small, the way the house is split up it does feel like a smaller cozy home. The house is just under 2,600 sq ft on three levels with an attic. And Annie, her husband, daughter in college and a senior in high-school all get to call this place home.
The open shelves and how they are styled just screams #hygge and function.
Annie created that chalkboard calendar wall with Benjamin Moore paints. You can have any color put into chalkboard paint. (Read how she did it HERE).
We sat down in this cozy breakfast nook and Annie made my the yummiest hot drink I have had in a long time! I need the recipe! Finn sat beside us and ate Lucky Charms (took out the marshmallows and did not eat them! that had to be documented) he also played with a tiny box filled with a collection of the cutest mini spoons.
This little center piece on her kitchen table was my favorite- a fresh clipping from her orange tree in her daughters sun room. If you are looking for what to put on your table for decor- you can not go wrong with a non-fussy center piece- practical but also effortlessly styled.
When asked what brings her inspiration- “I’m inspired by my travels. A lot from New York, but places we visit throughout the year… I love to travel and am typically planning my next trip when I’m still on the last one! I also am inspired by taking a walk in our neighborhood….inspiration is everywhere!”
A larger dining room right off of the cozy kitchen. With a window seat of course (older homes are the greatest for charming window seats).
The stacks of white dishes just makes me want to hoard more white dishes!
And a family room finishes off the main floor! Also another room that is oozing with ideas.
The painted white fireplace is the most asked about thing in her home! I can see why. Annie said that she is careful about giving advice and she often says “don’t paint” if it’s original and mid century. (Find the blog post about her fireplace HERE).
Annie recently got THESE affordable bookcases and shared how she styled them on THIS blog post. Her shelf styling is on point! A collection of things they love and use. I personally appreciate that she uses vintage pieces mixed with modern….this makes decor all the more interesting and personal.
I think this might inspire a lot of you or frustrate some that you didn’t start this earlier! ME! I am the latter. She used Acrylic Boxes and labeled each one with a Vintage Inspired Label Maker HERE. (you better believe I ordered one as soon as I got in my car!)
My favorite leather stools, I have been swooning over for a long time! I love all the natural elements Annie adds to her home, makes it feel so very personal and inviting.
Finn didn’t have any trouble feeling comfortable…lining up the rocks (so cute!!).
That large scale painting Annie painted herself! It is a focal point and really brings tougher her entire look. I noticed Annie owns several of THESE white pillows with the simplest black detail. When you find something good, why change it!
Thank you Annie for letting Finn, myself and all of my favorite readers into your home today!
Want to see more of Annie home? I shared her son, Patricks bedroom on THIS blog post. I also took pictures when I was in her gorgeous backyard two summers ago while we made Terrariums with my daughters, see that post HERE.
