I’m joining bloggers Mary Ann, Cindy, Janet, and Brooke with ideas for fall tablescapes you can try before Thanksgiving. What inspires you when you think about setting a pretty table for a gathering? For me it almost always starts with flowers. I prefer garden flowers (or even herbs from our kitchen garden like here) over store bought flowers. For one thing, they’re free and always in season. The colors of zinnias are every shade of pink, orange and cream like the pumpkins. Those colors are what inspired this table. The dot linen tablecloth and the stripes on the pumpkins add pattern to the mix of colors in the flowers.
The table linens are from Serena & Lily and west elm. The tassels on the napkins are just the right colors and tassels makes them fun, like zinnias. I used pink plates and clear glassware. The zinnias are in clear glass jars tied with simple twine.
Fall is the perfect time for a last dinner at the beach although this table setting would work at home too. At the end of the evening I ask everyone to take a few jars of flowers and pumpkins home with them. Clean up at the beach is quick and easy. I always make sure to get a head start with bags packed up before it gets dark. Then we can relax and enjoy the rest of the evening by candlelight.
I’m excited to see what Mary Ann, Cindy, Janet, and Brooke come up with for their fall tables. Brooke and I live in Connecticut and Mary Ann, Cindy and Janet all live in California, so there’s a bit of East Coast vs. West Coast and all different styles. So make sure you stop by everyone’s fall tables!
